Cancellations
From time to time, it may be necessary to cancel classes because of snow, or conditions beyond our control. We reserve the right to cancel classes. If severe weather conditions are present, call the school and you can obtain information on cancellations, either by staff or by voice mail or 1590 AM WAKR radio.
Withdrawal
Should you decide to stop dancing, you must fill out a Withdrawal Slip at the school office. Otherwise, you will be responsible for all tuition incurred until the withdrawal slip is competed. Withdrawals must be made in person and CANNOT be accepted over the telephone.
Make-up Classes
- A class may be made-up or substituted only for illness, injury, family emergency, or instructor’s permission. (Females missing class because of discomfort due to menstrual cycle are not excused: in fact, it has been proven that exercise will help decrease the symptoms.) Instructors will only give permission to students in good standing. Do not miss the classes you have committed to.
- Class must be made up within 30 days from the date of absence. Be sure to introduce yourself to the instructor when you arrive in a class you’re not registered for. Remember to be polite to the instructor and other students during a makeup class.
- Refunds are not given due to absence.
Arrival and Departure
Arrival
- Children under age 7 must be accompanied to class by an adult and arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before class time.
- Students must be picked up promptly after class. We will not be responsible for children after class time. Parents please do not ask Rising Star staff to let your children sit and wait in the lobby or outside until you come.
- All students should use the restroom before class.
Late Arrival
Tardiness is embarrassing for the child and disruptive for the class and instructor. However, we understand that it is sometimes unavoidable. Please be courteous to the instructor and warm-up for class near the edge of the room.
Departure
Parents please pick up your students on time. It is an inconvenience to teachers and staff. A child care fee will be charge if your child is not picked up with in 20 minutes after there class.
Class Etiquette & Expectations
( Please review with your child before class)
- Hanging on dancing barres is not allowed.
- Students are encouraged to ask questions of their instructor by raising their hand. Please ask questions before you begin an exercise or after the entire class has completed the combination. Do not stop in the middle of an exercise, this causes hazards for your classmates and inhibits your body from learning the combination.
- Chewing Gum is NOT permitted in class!
- Students must go to the bathroom before class.
- Students are permitted to bring a water bottle into class, but they will not be allowed to leave class to get a drink unless it is an emergency. Water bottles must contain water. It is unhealthy to guzzle water during a dance class.
- No social talking during class.
- Students are to remain standing throughout the class unless they are instructed to be seated.
Special Requests for Parents
- Parents, we take our responsibility to teach your children very seriously. For this reason we ask that you and your family not congregate in the doorways during class time. The crowding and noise interferes with classes and our staff carrying out their duties.
- Please be sure to mark your calendars for parent observation weeks. This is a good time for you to see the progress students make during the year. Please don’t miss it!
- If you need to speak with an instructor, please call to make an appointment. Or send a note in the student folder. It’s important to us that we begin class on time. Please be considerate of this request.
- We must all do our part in making sure that the studio is taken care of and not damaged by carelessness. Parents, as always, THANK YOU so much for helping us.
- There is a Bulletin board hanging in the waiting room there will be important information about your student and what they are doing at dance please frequently stop by and read the board.
Thank you.
